Cascading Drama

I was feeling quite crafty and wanted to add some drama to our backyard. A trip to Lowes was in order…on a mission to mix and match some elegant and colorful plants together to make a hanging basket and a window basket. Since it’s the middle of the summer here in South Carolina, the plants are a bit cheaper than if you bought them in the Spring. On the down side there are a bit less of a variety. Here’s what I came up with. It was SUPER easy to make too!

Cascading Hanging Iron Basket

Items

  • 1 Pink Zinnia
  • 1 White Petunia
  • 1 Purple Angelonia
  • 1 Spike Dracaena
  • 1 Sweet Potato Vine
  • Potting soil
  • Basket Liner
  • Iron Hanging Basket
  • Water

How-To

  1. Collect your items.
  2. Arrange your plants in the pot as desired.
  3. Add potting soil in between the plants.
  4. Drench with water.
  5. Hang and enjoy!

Cascading Iron Window Box

Items

  • 2 White Petunias
  • Spike Dracaena
  • 2 Sweet Potato Vines
  • Basket Liner
  • Window Box

How-To

  1. Collect your items.
  2. Arrange your plants in the box as desired.
  3. Add potting soil in between the plants.
  4. Attach the box to the window.

  6. Enjoy your accomplishments!

With about 30 minutes of time and $50, you can turn a dull yard into an oasis with cascading hanging baskets and feel accomplished. Happy Gardening!
