{12} Decadent Days of Christmas {6} Instant Russian Tea

This was a classic Christmas drink in our house growing up. Every time you smell this amazing drink you’ll think of Christmas.

It’ll warm your body and your soul. Mmm!

Once you’ve made this Instant Russian Tea mix, you just keep it in an airtight container until it’s gone!

It’d also make a great gift for someone…just put it in a mason jar, tie a ribbon around it, and voila!

  1. Dang, I can’t get Tang here :-( Any ideas of an alternative?

Let’s see…do you have powdered orange juice, powdered orange gatorade, orange kool-aid, or maybe orange crystal light? Haha…that’s all I can think of at the moment for Tang substitutes. I hope you find something! It sure does taste good! :-)

I like your recipe, but where I’m from, we know that as Friendship Tea. It truly is a classic gift to make for friends and family, no matter when it is meant to be brewed.

I love that this gives me an excuse to buy Tang! I used to love it as a little kid! And I bet this tea is absolutely delicious!

It is unclear to me about the sizes of the lemon-aid in particular. Where I live we only have two sizes for lemon-aid; the unsweetened kool-aid, or the lemon-aid that is the same size as the tang and sweetened.

The tea I face a similar issue; except, I can only choose one kind of instant tea. Crystal Light. It comes in small amounts and is artificially sweetened (yuck). So I do not know if a cup of this is necessary or if it would be less. What brand of instant tea did you use? Maybe I am just missing it since I had assumed it would be located next to the lemon-aid kool-aid and tang.

The recipe looks delicious and since I am obsessed with tea, this makes the cleanup a little easier for me since I will no longer have to clean out my infusers in-between each reload. I hope to at least get around to making something similar or exactly what you have here. Thanks!

Great questions Chris! The package I use is enough lemonade mix to make 2 quarts of lemonade, so use your best judgment. I also use Lipton instant tea or whatever one you can find. It’s kind of hard to find in the aisle with teas. Oh, and make sure the tea does not have lemon or sugar in it. Good luck finding everything and enjoy! :-)
