Since I eat what seems like a billion small meals a day now, I’ve been craving a lot of snack like foods.
It’s easier for me to portion out the small meals, if I think of them more like snacks, than meals.
Cravings got the best of me and I was buying tubs and tubs of the Archer Farms Monster mix from Target. It was getting a little pricey at the rate I was eating it (and having help from my husband).
I would also get to the bottom of the tub and be left with a lot of peanuts and raisins…oops, I like the m&m’s!
So, I decided to make my own monster mix, customized to what my body needs and craves right now.
almonds – vitamin E, fiber, monounsaturated fat, protein
cashews – monounsaturated fat, protein
walnuts – omega 3 fatty acids, protein, fiber
peanuts – protein, fiber, monounsaturated fat
It’s full of nuts, with a hint of sweet from the chocolate candies and yogurt covered raisins. I went all organic and unsalted (except for the peanuts), since I’m in an organic state of mind with the pregnancy.
- 1 cup unsalted walnut pieces
- 1 cup unsalted almonds
- 1 cup unsalted cashews
- 1 cup salted peanuts
- 1 cup yogurt covered raisins
- 1 cup chocolate candies (a.k.a. m&m’s)
- Mix all together.
- Store in an airtight container and enjoy as a snack!
