Sleeping Pattern: He will go a good 7-8 hours before either I wake him to feed or he wakes up to eat. Usually it’s me waking him up to feed because I’m engorged, but he falls asleep instantly after he eats. He then sleeps another 3-4 hours, sleeping a totally night of 11 hours.
Eating Habits: He eats every 2 hours during the day. The majority of his meals are breastmilk, with the exception of one meal of solid food and 1-2 supplemental bottles of formula. So far he’s tried brown rice cereal, sweet potatoes, sweet peas, squash (loved!), carrots, green beans, prunes, and bananas.
Development: Liam still loves to watch and laugh at Leland. He can sit up with a little help with balance from mommy or daddy. Liam is still grabbing everything he can reach and putting it straight into his mouth. Leland doesn’t appreciate this when it comes to his furry face.
Mischief: As soon as we start walking towards the nursery and into the room, he starts crying. We obviously need to have more play time in the nursery instead of all diaper changes and bed time. Also, he still needs a lot of entertaining. Toys just don’t cut it. Mommy and Leland need to be paying him 100% of their attention…which neither of us mind. 🙂
Cuteness: He sucks in his bottom lip, almost to put pressure on his bottom gums, but it’s so cute! Also, when he’s excited he’ll make sounds almost like he’s clearing his throat or lifting a 50 pound dumbbell.
Talking: He’s trying really hard to get some words to come out. They mostly end up in blowing bubbles or humming.
Favorites: He loves looking at himself in the mirror, baths, and Leland. The walker and Johnny Jump Up both keep him occupied for a decent amount of time, too!
Firsts: His first Thanksgiving was on November 22nd, which was also mommy and daddy’s 4th wedding anniversary. Liam was able to sit up by himself for a few minutes with us on stand-by incase he started to loose his balance on November 24th. November 25th we got Liam’s first Christmas tree (he’s mesmerized by the tree)!
Concerns: Liam is still on Prilosec twice a day, which unfortunately is a compound drug that seems to be a lost art in pharmaceuticals making it hard to find, expire quickly, and cost a lot. But, that’s okay. Anything to make him not hurt. He also has been experiencing a lot of constipation ever since we started solid foods a full 2 months ago. To remedy that, we’re off of brown rice cereal and just on fruits and veggies. I’ve also tried giving him bottles of water and diluted prune juice. Someday he’ll get regular…I hope!
A Day in the Life: We’re pretty much the same as last month, except he wakes up around 6am. He’ll take his Prilosec, waiting 30 minutes before his first meal. We’ll play for 2 hours and he’ll go down for a nap. We’ll try and repeat this pattern all day until bed time. However, he’s done as well as having one 3 hour nap during a day, or as bad as only two 30 minute naps for an entire day. On average Liam will take 3-4 30-45 minute naps all day. He’ll have his night-time Prilosec 30 minutes before his last feeding, around 6:30pm. We give him a bath and entertain him until he gets whatever I have (breastmilk-wise) and then he’ll have a 6-7 ounce bottle of formula. He’ll stay up until we see a yawn and he’ll go down for the night around 7-8pm.
