  • Date: December 31, 2012
  • Height:
  • Weight: 15 lbs 12 ozs
  • Sleeping Pattern: With the exception of teething, where he wakes up upwards of 4 times in a night, he will go a good 6-7 hours before I wake him to feed to relieve my breasts. He falls asleep as soon as he’s done eating and sleeps another 5-6 hours, sleeping a total of 11-12 hours.
  • Eating Habits: I feed him after he’s had prilosec in the morning from me. After each nap (2-3 naps), he drinks from me, then has around 4 ounces of pureed foods. Then, he’ll have a bottle of formula before bed. Since trying fruit, he no longer will eat vegetables plain, except for butternut squash. I mix a little bit of fruit into the vegetables. I guess he has a sweet tooth like his mom! :D We’ve stopped giving him rice cereal because it was causing awful constipation. Even without the cereal, he still has a bit of trouble with constipation, but he doesn’t strain like he was before.
  • Development: He can almost fully sit up on his own, but I always keep the boppy pillow a few inches behind him to protect his head if he looses his balance. Everything he comes into contact with must go into his mouth. He started cutting his bottom two middle teeth on Christmas Eve. This made for a very restless night. Since then, we’ve been giving him infant Tylenol to help with pain management. We’ve tried the cold teething tools, but he doesn’t like the cold. I guess it doesn’t help that it’s Winter outside and we’re trying to keep warm.
  • Mischief: He sometimes looses his balance when sitting by himself and rolls over to his belly. He doesn’t know how to move from his belly, so I just have to sit him up again. The morning is his best time, when he is very good at entertaining himself on the foor with his toys, but as the day progresses, he needs more and more attention, ending the day with constant standing up and holding him. After the Christmas holiday where he was constantly entertained and held, it has taken a few days to get back to entertaining and sitting by himself. Someone got a little spoiled by all of the attention! ;-)
  • Cuteness: He constantly entertains us with his cute smiles. Liam is overall a very happy baby and smiles at anyone who smiles at him.
  • Talking: The most talking he does is when he’s mad and just makes a loud ‘na-na-na-da-na’ sound.
  • Favorites: He loves looking at himself in the mirror, baths, and Leland. He got fun new toys for Christmas that he enjoys watching and playing with. The walker and Johnny Jump Up are fun too, now that he is getting the hang of jumping and pushing!
  • Firsts: Liam experienced his first Christmas-Eve with Logan’s family and Christmas Day with the Edwards’ and my family, the Starrs! He broke his first two teeth on Christmas eve and they’ve been working their way up ever since.
  • Concerns: We’ve reduced Liam to just one dose of Prilosec a day, and he still seems to be doing fine. He still spits up a lot, but not nearly the volume that he used to just a couple of months ago. We’re also trying to manage his teething pain with infant Tylenol, especially in the evening.
  • A Day in the Life: Well, lately the day starts between 7-8am. He gets Prilosec and waits 30 minutes in his crib, playing with a toy until he gets his first meal from me. He usually can only stand to stay awake for 1.5 hours until he goes down for a 30-60 minute nap. Then, has another breastmilk meal from me, waiting 30-60 minutes until he has 4 ounces of fruits and veggies. He’ll stay awake for 2-3 hours until he takes another nap, this one being 1-2 hours. Again, he’ll have another breastmilk meal from me, wait 30-60 minutes and have another 4 ounces of fruits and veggies. Then, he’ll be awake for another 5 hours, having 1 more breastmilk meal, 1 formula bottle and sometimes another 4 ounces of purée before going to bed around 8pm.

I love these updates. Thanks for sharing!

  2. He’s getting so big!! Have you tried teething tablets to help relieve some of the pain/irritation? I use these from Hyland:

There are a ton of the little bottle. I just pop 2-3 under Ks tongue (easier said than done!) and they dissolve almost instantly. If she’s being really fussy before a nap and I think it’s bc of teething Ill use these and they seem to work great! Plus they are all natural so you dont have to worry about giving him more and more medicine. Good luck – unfortunately I think we have many more months of the teething monster!

Wow! We lucked out with our first…we had no idea when he was teething because he had no signs and was as normal as ever!! I hope my second is the same ;-)

Did you give Tylenol every night before bed? My 7 month old has been a horrible sleeper the past few days waking up once a hour and I think it’s teeth related.

I was for about a week, but then I stopped giving it to him just to see if he’d be okay and he was. I’ll give it to him in the middle of the night every once and a while if he wakes up, which is unusual for him as of lately. Also, for a while I was giving him ibuprofen before bed too. That lasts 8 hours instead of just 4 with the Tylenol. :D I’m no doctor, but since you are thinking it’s teething related, I would give Tylenol a try. I could only help! Just be sure to give it 30 minutes before bed if you want the bedtime transition to go smoothly. :D Good luck and I hope your baby feels better soon!
