testing diapers #giveaway

My little dude goes through diapers like you wouldn’t believe. Well, I bet you can believe it, but still.

Ever since Liam was an itty bitty baby, we’ve been using Pampers. At one point I was curious to see if any of the other brands would work any better with him, but that wasn’t so. Hello, leakage! Back to Pampers we went and we’ve stayed ever since!

For a really long time we stuck with the Pampers Swaddlers (the infamous ‘Blue Line’ as it’s known in our family), which we loved when he was really tiny and made really tiny diapers. Now that he’s bigger, you can TOTALLY tell he has wet his diaper without the need for the Blue Line and we moved to Pampers Cruisers diapers.

When Pampers wanted to send me an assortment of diapers to test, I was all over it. Here’s what they sent me:

  1. Pampers Baby Dry
  2. Pampers Cruisers
  3. Luvs
  4. Pampers Swaddlers

We tried each package in different scenarios and this is what I found:

  • Pampers Cruisers are still great for every day wear. However, they leaked if used overnight.
  • Pampers Baby Dry are amazing! No leakage after 12 hours of sleep, which hardly ever happens…especially since Liam has 16 ounces of milk before bed lately.
  • Luvs are great too. Only a few leaks during the night and they’re great during the day.
  • Pampers Swaddlers are good for short term diapers. For example, I changed his diaper after his nap. He had lunch and we went to Target for a little shopping. Four hours after his diaper had been changed, the diaper had been filled and was wetting his clothes through the diaper. I would only use these for 1-2 hours or just be sure to constantly check for wet diapers.

Overall, I’m a huge fan of the Cruisers for the day and Baby Dry for the nights. No wetness and maximum comfort. As a little side note, I had been purchasing the Pampers Extra Protection diapers for night time and have found that 8 times out of 10, the diaper leaks. No good. Baby Dry it is!

Now let’s talk saving money.

Once upon a time, I discovered the art of CVSing. I wrote about one of my trips to CVS here. You can match up sales with store and manufactures coupons and use CVS’s Extra Care Bucks as cash.

They also have an ExtraCare Coupon Center at your local CVS where you can scan your ExtraCare card and get deals and coupons for things you regularly buy, like diapers! And if you ever need to purchase baby gifts for a new mom or even for a baby’s birthday, ask their size and buy them diapers. It’s such a helpful gift!

Now, it’s time to give a gift to you!

I’ve tried many different kinds and keep coming back to Luvs. Depending on sale prices and coupons I typically buy either pampers baby dry or luvs. I’ve never tried the cruisers, but definitely would once my little one starts walking.

  2. Cori says:

We used Pampers swaddlers when he was an infant and loved the blue line too! I’ll try the baby dry ones for overnight. Thanks for a good comparison.

  3. Ashley C says:

We switch between Luvs and Pampers depending on if I have a coupon. I like Pampers Cruisers the best!

I don’t have a child of my own yet. I just used the diapers the parents of the children I was watching was using. But I gave my sister in-law pampers for her baby.

We love Pampers swaddlers and are excited they now go up to a size 5.

  17. We swear by the Baby Dry!!

  18. I’m due any day with our first and we’re starting out with Pampers Swaddlers. We were told the “baby dry” are dangerous as they have a chemical that burns baby’s sensitive skin when wet. I can’t imagine waiting 12hours to change a diaper though, that’s a long time!

Congratulations! What an exciting time. I was surprised by the 12 hour thing, too. However, I will never wake our son to change a diaper. He will wake us up if he needs his diaper changed. Now that he’s older he will sleep a solid 12 hours straight at night and it’s a beautiful thing. The 12 hour protection diapers are the only thing that allow him to sleep for those 12 hours without leaking all over his clothes and bed. I’m so thankful for them.

Of course in the beginning, he was waking up or I was waking him up every couple of hours to feed and his diaper was changed every time then. 😀

I’ve seen a few of the photos going around on facebook about the burns, but we’ve never had any trouble with them. I guess do what you’re gut tells you and you’ll be fine. 😀 I hope you have a smooth and safe delivery! So happy for you, Nicole!

Have not tried them yet, want to though!

  22. Amanda says:

My twin girls are only three weeks old, and so far have only used Pampers Swaddlers. They have worked great so far!

  23. Rachel e says:

I love the swaddlers. The best for babies and telling if they are wet.

  24. Heather Sprunger says:

I use pampers swadlers. I’ve had great experience with them….no leakage! At this point since the little one is getting up every 4-6hours at night, I’m able to change the diapers often. Once she starts sleeping longer I may need to change what diapers I purchase. This is great information for when I she makes that next step! Thank you!

  25. Nicole L. says:

We’ve have been going back and forth between Pampers swaddlers and Huggies snug and fit. I like that wet line indicator from the pamper swaddlers and I love the wipes compared to other brands

  26. Christina Gathright says:

The Pampers baby dry worked great when our two (Dylan 2 1/2 and Avery 15 months) were newborns, but we switched to Luvs as they got older. Both are great diapers, but with two kids in diapers it gets expensive and Luvs works just as well for almost half the cost.

  27. Amanda says:

I have always used pampers with my newborns. I’m a mom of 7, when you find something that works, you stock with it

  28. Riley H says:

    I prefer Pampers Baby Dry.

  29. Amy Reilly says:

I am 6 months pregnant so I don’t have an opinion yet!
I’m looking forward to trying out all of these brands once baby Evelyn

  30. Lori H. says:

I have a 2 week old and we’ve been using Pampers swaddlers, which I love the snug fit and wet line indicator. I just started a box of Huggies and I’m not a fan. My little guy is a squirmer and the Huggies just don’t seem to stay in place like the Pampers.

  31. Emily Gager says:

Diapers, diapers and more diapers! As a mom of 3, I have been changing diapers for 7 consecutive years. Im ready for a break 🙂

  32. Jennifer says:

I loved the Pampers Swaddlers for my first son and I’m using them again with my second son. We switched to the Baby Dry diapers after he outgrew the Swaddlers. I was excited to see that Swaddlers now come in extended sizes though I will certainly be cautious about the leakage you mentioned.

  33. Vicky N says:

I loved swaddlers for the newborn days!
