Have you ever been in just the ‘I want peanut butter and chocolate’ -mood?

a lot.
This dessert is just the cure.
Not only are there Reese’s cups on top, but there is also loads of chocolate and peanut butter chips hidden in the cake. Topped with chocolate ganache. This dessert is perfection….and pretty easy too!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake
adapted from Passionate About Baking
Ingredients (Cake)
- 3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup special dark cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup light buttermilk
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
How-To (Cake)
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Grease and flour a 9 inch spring-form pan.
- In a bowl, sift the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In an stand mixer, beat the butter, sugar and honey.
- Beat the eggs in one at a time.
- Beat in the vanilla extract.
- On low, beat in the half of the flour mixture, followed by the buttermilk, followed by the remaining flour.
- Fold in chips.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Top with a chocolate ganache (recipe below).
Ingredients (Ganache)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream (I only had whipping cream and it worked fine.)
How-To (Ganache)
- Heat the ingredients over low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate melts.
- Take off the heat and stir briskly until it’s shinny (30 – 60 seconds).
Yum! See the peanut butter and chocolate chips inside!!!! Mmmmmm!

Oh, it was good. The perfect blend of peanut butter and LOTS of dark chocolate.
My coworkers didn’t want to have anything to do with it, but they just couldn’t resist!

Could you please tell me where we might find a wonderful cake stand JUST like yours? We’ve looked and looked, and no luck. (and the choc/peanut butter cake isnt bad either, lol. :-))
Haha…I got it at TJMaxx. I’d just keep your eyes out when Halloween comes around again. You might check Pier 1, World Market, Target, and maybe even a department store like Belk, JCPenny, or Dillards. I hope you find one! 🙂
