This is my Mama’s recipe (my great grandmother, pronounced Mall Mall). We’ve had it at every holiday dinner (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas) since before I was born. Mama’s Cranberry Orange Relish is usually served with turkey, but it’s so good you can eat it plain too! Or in my favorite instance, mix it in Mighty Good Muffins!
Cranberry Orange Relish
Ingredients
- 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 navel oranges, unpeeled
- 2 packages raspberry or strawberry Jello mix
- 2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
How-To
- Cut the oranges up into quarters and put them into a food processor.
- Pulse until it’s a medium consistency.
- Do the same with the cranberries.
- Stir the chopped cranberries, oranges, sugar and Jello together in a large bowl.
- Chop up the pecans and stir into the relish
- Refrigerate for at least one day before serving.

Oh, hello, Caroline! So great to meet you. And find your beautiful blog! Look forward to feasting on your goodies you will make this year.
My mom makes a very similar relish and I absolutely adore it. Unfortunately, I only usually get to eat this on Thanksgiving…but I may just have to change that and try out your recipe!
I know, right! So tasty! It’s a great Thanksgiving tradition, but there’s no reason you can’t have it all year! 🙂 Well, other than the lack of fresh cranberries at the market during the off season months.
I always make this recipe for Thanksgiving, too, but I also add cinnamon, pineapple, and fresh or frozen strawberries. It’s so refreshing and a great snack just by itself.
Ooo! I love the idea of all of the add-ins. I must try that next Thanksgiving….or better yet, Easter! 🙂
