I know we’re all about healthy here at chocolate & carrots, but this stuff is too good to pass up. So on this lovely Monday, treat yourself to a little bit of Puppy Chow!
Come on, it’s got chocolate (antioxidants), peanut butter (protein), Crispix (grains), powdered sugar & butter (i’ve got nothing, but love).
Puppy Chow
from Taste and See That the Lord is Good: A Collection of Recipes by Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church
Ingredients
- 1 (12.5 ounce) box of Crispix or similar cereal
- 1 stick of unsalted butter
- 1 cup natural creamy peanut butter
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
How-To
- Melt the butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter.
- In a really big bowl, pour in the cereal.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal.
- Stir until coated.
- Pour the sifted powdered sugar over it and mix (or powdered sugar in a large brown bag, add the chocolate covered cereal and shake).
- Put it in the refrigerator until cool.
- Store in an airtight container (although, it probably won’t last long because you’ll eat it so fast! ).
Great photos!
I don’t think I’ve ever eaten puppy chow, except maybe a bite here or there. It’s just not a New England food. That’s a damn shame.
’tis a shame. It’s delicious…very addicting. You just can’t stop! 😀
Yum! Great photos! You go girl!
Haha…thanks Alison! 😀 I love me some puppy chow and great natural lighting! (I took these at my parent’s house…they have a bay window. Jealous.)
This is a favorite Christmas treat at our house. If you’re looking for a slightly (very slightly) healthier version, I have never made it with butter. Just add a Tbl of canola oil to the melting chocolate. Delish.
Ooo! Thanks for the tip! That will help a ton (at least psychologically)…meaning I can eat more and not feel as bad. 😉
Oh no! Why did you have to post this, now I have to go make some this instant! I’m such a sucker for these kinds of snacks, it’s like my kryptonite. Time to get my antioxidants, protein, grains, and love for the day 🙂
😀
I love it too. Didnt think I would but youre right… addictive!!!
I’m so glad! So addictive. 😀
