Puppy Chow

I know we’re all about healthy here at chocolate & carrots, but this stuff is too good to pass up. So on this lovely Monday, treat yourself to a little bit of Puppy Chow!

Come on, it’s got chocolate (antioxidants), peanut butter (protein), Crispix (grains), powdered sugar & butter (i’ve got nothing, but love).

Ingredients

  • 1 (12.5 ounce) box of Crispix or similar cereal
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup natural creamy peanut butter
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups sifted powdered sugar

How-To

  1. Melt the butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter.
  2. In a really big bowl, pour in the cereal.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal.
  4. Stir until coated.
  5. Pour the sifted powdered sugar over it and mix (or powdered sugar in a large brown bag, add the chocolate covered cereal and shake).
  6. Put it in the refrigerator until cool.
  7. Store in an airtight container (although, it probably won’t last long because you’ll eat it so fast! ).

    1. Haha…thanks Alison! 😀 I love me some puppy chow and great natural lighting! (I took these at my parent’s house…they have a bay window. Jealous.)

  1. This is a favorite Christmas treat at our house. If you’re looking for a slightly (very slightly) healthier version, I have never made it with butter. Just add a Tbl of canola oil to the melting chocolate. Delish.

    1. Ooo! Thanks for the tip! That will help a ton (at least psychologically)…meaning I can eat more and not feel as bad. 😉
