Hello class!
Welcome back to 3rd grade.
I remember what a treat it was to have worms ‘n dirt back then.
Ahh…the simple life.
I felt the joy & happiness of these ‘3rd grade’ treats when I took a bite out of this dessert.
Mmmmm!
And what’s not to love about picking out sweet and sugary worms out of oreos and chocolatastic pudding. 😉
I hope you enjoy this decadent trip back down memory lane as much as I did!
Worms ‘n Dirt
Ingredients
- 2 packages of cook & serve chocolate pudding (I used one sugar/fat free and one original)
- 4 cups of skim milk
- 20 oreo cookies (equivalent to an entire package of Newman-O’s)
- 6 gummy worms, cut in half
How-To
- Set out your 4 glasses for your worms ‘n dirt.
- In a food processor, blend the cookies. Set aside.
- In a sauce pan on high heat, whisk the milk and pudding powder until it reaches a boil.
- Pour the pudding into a large measuring cup for easy pouring.
- Pour about 1/2 cup of pudding into each glass.
- Sprinkle half of the crushed cookies in each glass.
- Pour the remaining pudding over the cookies.
- Sprinkle the remaining cookies over the pudding.
- Decorate with the gummy worms.
- Put in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until cold.
- Serve and enjoy! 🙂
Servings: 4 (but, I could only eat half of mine…leftover dessert for tomorrow!)
I always loved this and still would! Time to enjoy them as an adult:-)
Worms and dirt was always the highlight of VBS for me! A local ice cream place has a worms and dirt sundae, which they use chocolate ice cream instead of pudding. 🙂
Oh man….I remember this dessert! My mom used to make it for my brother and me when we were growing up! It was always delicious! 😀
I used to love Worms n Dirt, but then I choked on a worm at TGIFs one day and I don’t think I’ve had it since. I guess you really have to chew your worms.
fun would rock for a kids party
dirt n worms were my favorite when I was little. And they kinda still are :D. haha.
They had these for treats one time at church for the kids. I almost wanted to steal M’s. But then remembered that would be frowned upon. 😉
I love dirt and worms! Last October I really had the craving for it as a dessert, but my husband is absolutely grossed out by worms (some childhood tragedy, that I absolutely make fun of him for) and refused to eat it if I were to make it… so I tried to think of another gummy treat to put in it. Gummy bears? Sure – but not realistic. Then I found these awesome red, yellow, and orange gummy pumpkins. I made little pumpkin patches instead of having the worms. Oh – it was so delightful. Gosh, I miss elementary school because of these!
Oh my goodness these used to be my favorite!! Thanks for bringing them back on the menu!
love your great site. fun , beautiful and professional.
thank you.
