Worms ‘n Dirt

Hello class!

Welcome back to 3rd grade.

I remember what a treat it was to have worms ‘n dirt back then.

Ahh…the simple life.

I felt the joy & happiness of these ‘3rd grade’ treats when I took a bite out of this dessert.

Mmmmm!

And what’s not to love about picking out sweet and sugary worms out of oreos and chocolatastic pudding. 😉

I hope you enjoy this decadent trip back down memory lane as much as I did!

Worms ‘n Dirt

Ingredients

  • 2 packages of cook & serve chocolate pudding (I used one sugar/fat free and one original)
  • 4 cups of skim milk
  • 20 oreo cookies (equivalent to an entire package of Newman-O’s)
  • 6 gummy worms, cut in half

How-To

  1. Set out your 4 glasses for your worms ‘n dirt.
  2. In a food processor, blend the cookies. Set aside.
  3. In a sauce pan on high heat, whisk the milk and pudding powder until it reaches a boil.
  4. Pour the pudding into a large measuring cup for easy pouring.
  5. Pour about 1/2 cup of pudding into each glass.
  6. Sprinkle half of the crushed cookies in each glass.
  7. Pour the remaining pudding over the cookies.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cookies over the pudding.
  9. Decorate with the gummy worms.
  10. Put in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until cold.
  11. Serve and enjoy! 🙂

Servings: 4 (but, I could only eat half of mine…leftover dessert for tomorrow!)

  1. Worms and dirt was always the highlight of VBS for me! A local ice cream place has a worms and dirt sundae, which they use chocolate ice cream instead of pudding. 🙂

  2. I love dirt and worms! Last October I really had the craving for it as a dessert, but my husband is absolutely grossed out by worms (some childhood tragedy, that I absolutely make fun of him for) and refused to eat it if I were to make it… so I tried to think of another gummy treat to put in it. Gummy bears? Sure – but not realistic. Then I found these awesome red, yellow, and orange gummy pumpkins. I made little pumpkin patches instead of having the worms. Oh – it was so delightful. Gosh, I miss elementary school because of these!
