I wasn’t kidding when I said this yesterday:
It’s perfectly creamy, with a hint of banana. The peanut butter isn’t too powerful and the crunch of the oreo is just fabulous! 🙂
Excuse me while I go have a love affair with a bowl of this stuff…
Healthy Peanut Butter Oreo Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 3 frozen bananas, chopped
- 1 tablespoon almond milk
- 1/4 cup natural creamy peanut butter
- 5 gluten-free oreos
, crushed
How-To
- In a food processor, blend the bananas, almond milk, and peanut butter until smooth.
- Add in the crushed oreos and blend until combined.
- Pour into a freezer safe container and freeze until hard, or eat right away.
Servings: 3-4
YUM!!!!!! I LOVE the banana ‘ice cream.’ I eat it ALL THE TIME! Especially with pb, and oreos are kinda my fave ice cream ‘topper.’ Winner!
Heck YES! This looks amazing. I’ve had fun tossing random ingredients into banana soft serve ice cream, but this combination is especially fantastic!
YUM!! I can’t wait to try this! It looks amazing!!!
Oh my gosh, it’s like you made this for me! Love it!
You are a genius but I’m pretty sure this would serve just 1 in my world! I had unbelievable peanut butter oreo ice cream last week, but it definitely wasn’t healthy. Can’t wait to try this!
omg I can’t wait to try this! Looks and sounds so good
Mmmm yes please.
Yummy!! Banana, peanut butter and oreos? Yes, please! 😉
Mmm, I love those frozen banana ice creams! Pretty vegan!
Wow! Looks delicious. I tried a similar recipe that didn’t include oreos. I will have to try the addition of oreos. I’m sure it makes it so much more decadent! Thanks for the recipe.
Ohmygod! This looks unbelieveable! I cannot wait to try it-I’ve been on such a homemade ice cream kick lately-aren’t i supposed to LOSE weight during the summer? lol!
Oh yeah! A great twist on the banana-based “ice cream”. My kids would go gaga over this.
I made this tonight! Fantastic! I think it tastes better than regular ice cream!
What an innovative approach to ice cream! I really can’t wait to try this. 🙂
So good! 🙂 And you don’t have to feel guilty…my favorite. 😉
Hi Caroline,
I am doing an end of summer ice cream round up on my own blog, All Day I Dream About Food, and would love to include this recipe. I would use one of your images, and link back to you, but I wouldn’t be posting the recipe directly. If you would like to be a part of it, please email me at carketch29 (at) yahoo (dot) com.
Thanks,
Carolyn
Well I’m just gonna admit it: I had no idea there were such things as gluten-free oreos!
And I can hardly believe you made something that looks so much like ice cream from bananas! You’re a genius. Now I have to grab a bunch on the way home so I can try this myself. 🙂 I’m so glad to have found you today, you taught me something!
Haha…you’re awesome. I can’t wait for you to try it! 🙂
I made this yesterday. It was good, but I guess I blended the oreos too much–no chunks. Still, I love this idea and will be trying it again as well as experimenting with the bananas. Thanks!
I’ve heard before that frozen bananas have an ice cream consistency when blended, but I’ve never had a big desire to try it. I saw your recipe yesterday, I love the addition of peanut butter and almond milk. My husband and I have been eating healthy food lately, so we haven’t been able to enjoy sweets like we used to. So this recipe is perfect for us! I was thrilled to proclaim after dinner last night that we were going to enjoy dessert for once. We ate it right after blending it so it was sort of ‘soft serve’ style, and crushed just one oreo for topping. SO delicious!
HA! I love this recipe! I agree, it’s very healthy! Here’s my version of this healthy ice cream alternative: http://www.gotchocolate.com/2012/05/recipe-peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-honey-banana-ice-cream/
Thank you!
This sounds delicious and indeed surprisingly healthy!
I just made these and it was phenomenal!! I just had to use more soy milk though and put a couple of extra Oreos 😉 I will post it on my blog next time I make it.
