Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Bars

Ever since I saw the fabulous whole grain peanut butter chocolate bars on Texanerin Baking, I knew I had to adapt them to my likes.

Yes, unfortunately I’m still anti-chocolate.

Weird.

I had one of these cakey and chewy bars for baby and me.

The rest I sent with Mr. Chocolate & Carrots to work. He said they were gone within a matter of minutes.

They were that good! πŸ˜€

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Bars

slightly adapted from Texanerin Baking, adapted from Bake 350

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 teaspoonΒ baking powder
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How-To

  • Preheat the oven to 350Β°F.
  • Set aside an 8″ x 8″ pan that has been covered with non-stick aluminum foil and sprayed with cooking spray. This is for easy removal from the pan.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
  • In a bowl, combine the canola oil, peanut butter, sugar, honey, eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients onto the dry ingredients.
  • Stir until just mixed.
  • Pour and spread into your pan.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until it is set (doesn’t jiggle when shaken).
  • Allow to cool before cutting.
  • Slice into squares.

Servings: 9 – 16 (depending on how big/small you cut them)

  1. Cool! I’m so excited that you made them! And I’m relieved that someone else has made them and confirmed that they only need about 15 minutes in the oven. It was just perplexing how much less time these needed than the original. I made them again yesterday and reduced the flour to make them gooier and that worked out wonderfully. I’ve got to stop playing with this recipe though. I’m happy you found them okay!

Yay! I’m so happy. Thanks. πŸ™‚

    1. They were great! I think next time (since I didn’t add chocolate chips), I’ll use less flour too so that they’ll be gooey-er. πŸ˜€ Mmm!

  2. No chocolate? Maybe I mised it, is the baby making you dislike chocolate. Come on baby, give a girl a break! These look WONDERFUL (I might have to add some chocolate, sooooomewhere to them πŸ™‚ )

    1. Totally baby’s fault. πŸ˜‰ Ever since I got pregnant, I’ve just been disgusted by chocolate. It’s the worst, because I know that I love it! Ahh…maybe my love for chocolate will come back after the baby is born. πŸ˜€ Pray for me. πŸ˜‰

  3. I was anti-coffee while pregnant with my last child (the taste for it came back sometime in the 3rd trimester), but I never was anti-chocolate! I wish I was, I probably wouldn’t have gained so much weight πŸ˜‰ Good luck with everything!

  4. These look wonderful. I am anti-chocolate all the time, although I must admit, I will eat a Reese’s peanut butter cup when they are offered, (only the full size ones, the small ones are loaded with chocolate) I am that addicted to peanut butter. I can’t wait to try these, thanks!
