Yes.
Yes, I like chocolate again!
Thank goodness!!!!
I’m still loving fruit desserts, too (which was a new thing starting during my pregnancy), but given the choice, I like chocolate more.
It still shocks me that I’m back to my chocoholic self (in moderation, of course…gotta keep a healthy baby)!
Yay!
As for these brownies, I made them for my husband to take to his amazing coworkers (they love me). 🙂
I first called them the tradition name: Slutty Brownies.
But, quickly, my husband suggested a more ‘work-friendly’ name…
…hence Provocative Brownies.
🙂
These are a little different than the traditional slutty provocative brownies.
Traditional Provocative Brownies

- Brownie layer
My Whole Wheat Provocative Brownies

Make your choice!
These are for the true chocoholics.
Whole Wheat Provocative Brownies
adapted from Eat Good 4 Life
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (I used decaf since I’m pregnant)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (8 ounce) package oreos (I used Newmans Own)
- 3 tablespoons salted caramel (I used Trader Joes)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips for sprinkling (optional)
How-To
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cover a 9″ x 9″ pan in non-stick foil and spray with canola oil (for easy removal). Set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk the olive oil, eggs, coffee, sugar, and vanilla extract together.
- Add the flour and baking powder and stir together.
- In a microwavable bowl, melt the chocolate chips (stirring every 30 seconds until melted).
- Add the melted chocolate to the mixture and stir until well combined.
- Pour half of the brownie mixture into the prepared pan.
- Lay out a layer of the oreos.
- Drizzle with the salted caramel over the oreos.
- Pour the remaining brownie mixture on top covering all parts of the brownies.
- (Optional) Sprinkle the chocolate chips.
- Bake for 30 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean.
They indeed are provocative in every sense..nom..nom..love those layers in it!
Love love love! My new favorite brownie perhaps?
I like your name better! Although when I saw it in Google Reader I read Proactive brownies and thought, “Isn’t that acne medicine? Ehh?” I guess I was still sleepy. 🙂
I’ve made this brownie recipe before and it’s great. I’m sure Oreos and caramel would just make it even better!
And congratulations on liking chocolate again!
bahaha! i love that you + hubs renamed them ‘provocative’ brownies – such a better name than the original, in my opinion. =) they look absolutely divine!
Wow – these are sinful and OH SO delicious looking. Oreos and salted caramel in the centre? Be still my heart…
yay for liking chocolate again! My husband loves brownies and the salted caramel in these is just over the top. I am very inspired to try to sneak in the whole wheat flour and see if my husband notices!
With a nice oreo surprise crunch on the inside AND salted caramel…you certainly do have your chocolate pallet back (congrats)! P.S. I like “slutty brownies” 🙂
I can’t imagine not ever liking chocolate! These look insanely good! I even have a pack of Oreo’s waiting to me turned into something!!
I HAVE to make these. I love all desserts but when it comes to the crunch, chocolate has to be my number one choice 🙂
Brownie + oreo + salted caramel? I’m in heaven!
Now these just look sassy.
Haha… great adapted name! I’ve seen these brownies around the blogosphere, and love your addition of whole wheat pastry flour. I can only imagine how amazing these taste!
I just bought the ingredients today to make them. I think my husband will love these for Valentine’s Day!
this is a GREAT name, i brought the original recipe to work this week, and i just didn’t say what they were called. should have been creative like you!
I love that you added a layer of caramel. It’d be a lie if I said I hadn’t been thinking about these since you tweeted them the other day!
HA! Love the PC name change. Whatever you call these they are still dangerously tempting.
Thank heavens you like chocolate again!! A chocoholic is a terrible thing to waste. 😉
And um ohmygosh these are gloooorious. More chocolate = more happiness! I’d definitely pick your option.
I made slutty brownies based on this for a bake sale last weekend. They went over huge! One lady bought 4 (1 for herself and 3 to give to her friends.) She ate 2 when she sat down and refused to hand over the others. So she ended up feeling guilty and coming back for more to share. Massive hit!
