Chocolate Creme Trifle Jars

I need your help…keep reading.

Just picture it, a warm summer day in the park, under a big oak tree, overlooking the serene eastern coastline. The tide rolling in, the hum of cicadas, and the laughter of children. This is what I picture as my perfect summer day. And, if you want to know where this picture came from, it’s a real place. ๐Ÿ˜€

The only thing that’s missing is food. The outing will only be complete with aย scrumptiousย picnic. One with lemonades, cold slaw, fruit, pimento cheese sandwiches, and chocolate. These chocolate trifle jars, to be exact!

My grandmother introduced me to the trifle a few years back and her chocolatly concoction is the inspiration for these portable treats! It’s quite simple and easy to whip up.

You can’t really mess them up and you can be creative with how you layer them. Plus, everything is more fun when eaten from a jar! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The star of this dessert is the Philadelphia Cooking Creme. The sweet tang of the cooking creme enhances the rich chocolate flavors and decadent lightness of the whole trifle.

It was so easy to whip up and pop in the cooler (or refrigerator) until you’re ready to dive in!

Well, I made these precious dessert jars as part of the Philadelphia Cooking Creme Virtual Potluck contest. It’s a 24 hour contest, where the blogger with the most comments on their post wins!

The winner receivesย $500 and a year-supply of PCC in a variety of flavors (12 gratuity coupons)!!!!!!!!!!

Eeeeee!

Chocolate Creme Trifle Jars

Ingredients

  • brownies (from scratch or box)
  • 10 ounce Philadelphia Original Cooking Creme
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoons sugar, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy cream, divided
  • 1/2 cup 60% Ghirardelli chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

How-To

  1. Prepare your brownies as directed. Set aside 1/3 of the brownies for this recipe. Eat the other 2/3rds while you make the trifles!
  2. In a bowl, combine the cooking creme, 1/4 sugar, and vanilla extract together. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat 1 1/2 cups of the heavy cream until it is the consistency of whipping cream. Set aside.
  4. Finally, make the gananche using the other 1/2 cup of heavy cream and the Ghirardelli chocolate chips.
    1. Bring the heavy cream to a boil.
    2. Remove from heat and add in the chocolate.
    3. Pour into a bowl and let cool.
  5. Now assemble the trifles, layering the brownie, semi sweet chocolate chips, sweet cooking creme, whipping cream, and gananche.

Servings: 3 mason jars

  4. I have enjoyed the goodies you have sent by Logan. Any chance one of these will be coming? Look great. Good Luck!

  10. Jill and I have always made chocolate trifle in our big clear glass trifle bowl/dish. What a great idea to put them in canning jars. I know what we’re doing the next we make this for dessert!!! Thanks for sharing! รœ

  11. I hope you win! And I’ve never heard of Philadelphia Cooking Creme. I obviously need to check that out! And yum… these look amazing. I’ve only tried making desserts in a jar once and it came out pretty messy looking. You did a really nice job here. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. This looks so good! Been following for some time now and I just adore your recipes… especially the ones with chocolate in it. ๐Ÿ˜›

  13. You did a post a while ago asking about the types of recipes we’d like to see from you.. I cant find it at the moment so post there, so I’m just going to give it a go here. My idea isnt so much a recipe, as getting a little “sneak peek” into your fridge/freezer and pantry to see what it normally looks like. I say this because I am trying to ‘stock up” and to be honest i’m a tad clueless as to what should be in there!! Some realistic lists of goods that we should have on hand to make your recipes, with photos would be AWESOME!!
