First, let me just say that this was the easiest, moistest cake I’ve eaten.
Then, it landed on the floor.
What a day that was.
Liam was already giving me trouble, but luckily he was due for a nap when I was mrs. clumsy and dropped my super hot crock pot full of the delicious cake. To make things worse, we were due to show the house that night to a potential buyer. I knew I had to get the mess cleaned up and patch up and paint my drawer and oven that had been chipped from the massive crock pot falling 25 miles/hour, headed straight for the floor.
I did manage to salvage just enough for 1 bowl of unharmed, stoneware free cake to taste. The mess was cleaned up after a lot of work on my hands and knees, followed by 3 moppings and a vacuuming. And we showed the house, but they didn’t want to buy it (but were very nice).
Boo. I need more cake.
Moral of the story. When you make this cake, don’t try to be stupid and remove it from the crock pot. Just eat it straight out of the pot, cobbler-style.
P.S. Since then, I ordered a replacement stoneware for my crock pot. Much cheaper than buying a whole new one! π
Oh man–I hate days like that! At least you got to try a little of it! π
UGH! The cake looks delicious but what a rough day! That means tomorrow will be better π I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you guys find a buyer soon!
Thank you Sara! I’m hoping the buyers will be more frequent in the spring time. π
Oh yes. Definitely have had this happen before. Especially with 4 children underfoot! Cake looks yummy though. Can’t wait to try!
OMG! I have nightmares about breaking my crockpot insert! What an ordeal!
Ohhh noooo, those moments are horrific. You do seem to have a bit of a sense of humor about it – that always helps π
Oops…that actually sounds scary! So glad the only thing it hurt was the drawer and not you! Guess you’ll have to make it again so that you can enjoy the whole thing π
Showing a house is hard enough without a baby and a kitchen disaster. What a rough day! I’m so glad it didn’t land on you. And the cake looks delicious.
oooooooohhh…nooooooooo…that is such such a bummer π and the piece in the photo looks amazing!
Oh nooo! But at least you got to sample some to console yourself. And chocolate cake with DARK CHOCOLATE REESE’S! That would be like a bowl of heaven.
I feel like I’ve been having a ton of days like that lately but baked anything, especially something warm with chocolate and peanut butter, is a perfect fix.
Good luck finding a buyer!
We have concrete floors and I am always dropping and shattering things on them. Regardless, this cake is fabulous!
I seriously had to click on this post when I saw that super amazing looking picture. Sounds so good. At least you got to have some of it!
