Being a food blog that primarily focuses on healthier baking, it’s only fitting that I be a part of Whole Grain Sampling Day. Whole Grain Sampling Day is a nationwide,ย annual initiative designed to introduce consumers to the health benefits and great taste of whole grains. So, when Oldways and the Whole Grains Council asked me to be a Whole Grains Ambassador it was love at first bite. As my first mission, I’m here to tell you to eat more whole grains! Woot!
I sought out to try these lovely goodies filled with whole grains:
Well, I can happily say that between my husband and myself we’ve tried most of them and have chosen our favorites!
It’s a no brainer, but my favorite has been Pamela’s Oatmeal Cookie Mix.ย I threw in a 1/2 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips and voila!

I make blender pancakes with whole wheat berries. They’re my favorite.
My favorite way to get whole grains is in a brown rice or quinoa salad…but Wheat Thins or cookies would be great, too! ๐
Oh, yummy! I’ve always been the whole grain person in my family, and the only person who would ever try to find whole grain foods! I always snuck it in with pastas and bread.
I love pepperidge farms ancient grains bread. I was looking for a bread that was semi low cal with fiber and protein and this one is it! Turns out that two slices is 100% of the daily grains you need!!
oh my gosh- these cookies! Ah! I like to get my whole grains through cooked cereals or mix into stir fry!!

I bake with whole wheat flour – pancakes, cookies, cakes, loaf bread for breakfast, some homemade granola recipes, crusts for quiche. Pretty much anything you can substitute whit flour for ๐
Oatmeal is my main way. I have it at least 3 mornings a week.
Steel Cut Oats on top of greek yogurt and a pear.
I love making bread with sprouted whole wheat flour. Rises almost like all purpose, so it isn’t super dense like a lot of whole wheat breads!

It sounds crazy (but try it!) I make a standard smoothie with juice, yogurt and frozen fruit and I add a glob of cold cooked oatmeal. It makes the smoothie very silky, tastes great and is full of whole grain!
I lovvvvve oatmeal in my smoothies. It does make it so delicious! ๐

I love whole grain breads – 21 grain is my favorite. We also love whole grain crackers and snacks.
I love 12 grain bread and adding barley to soups.
My favorite way to get whole grains is either the delicious whole grain toast I make every morning, or whole grain pasta! I could never give up carbs, so having a healthier option is amazing. ๐

Subbing all purpose flour with whole wheat is one of the ways I incorporate whole grains into our eating.
