How I exercise {giveaway}

Albion Fit-4

Without regular exercise I wouldn’t be able to fit into my jeans everyday with all of this baking I have going on here. Not only is exercise just good for me, but it’s a tremendous stress reliever and allows me to spend quality time with my family.

Our exercise of choice is always running. It’s not often that I buy fitness clothes, but when I do, I always seem to exercise better. I guess it’s that little voice in my head saying, ‘Oh yeah, you look cute. You go girl!’.

Whatever gets you out there and exercising right?

I know I’ve said it before, but I use a calendar to keep track of my exercising. I use Google Calendar and have a specific calendar (that I choose to be blue if you’re familiar with Google Calendar) just for exercise. I write down exactly what I did for exercise that day (setting it as ‘all day’ instead of a time so it shows up boldy on my calendar). That way, two things happen:

  1. I can look back and say, ‘Wow, I rock. I did a really good job this week! Look at all of that blue!’.
  2. Or, I can look at the calendar and say, ‘Yikes, there’s not enough blue. It’s been way too long since I exercised. It’s time to get out there’.

That way, I’m keeping myself on track and that blue calendar motivates me along the way.

Anyway. I know I’m not the skinniest girl in the world and I’ve always gotten down on myself about my body (stupid short waist…my ribs literally sit inside of my hips). But, I feel awesome, especially since having Liam. I’m now down to a lower weight that I was before I had the baby! πŸ˜€

Woot!

Albion Fit-2Anyway.

I’d love to hear how you stay motivated to exercise!

  1. I’m with you, my all-time favorite exercise is running! I have run 3 marathons and about 10 half marathons! I love it!! I have also recently started CrossFit and it is another awesome workout!! I would love to win this giveaway! Working out is always much better while wearing cute new clothes!! πŸ™‚

  2. According to my doctor I need more cardio. So lately I have been riding my bike if the weather is good. Which I love to do more than anything.

  3. I’m actually looking for a good exercise regimen for myself. I need to get in better shape and lose some weight, but I’ve never been very good about committing to it. Plus, I have an old knee injury that I need to be careful about.

Does anyone have some good low-impact exercise advice? I see swimming and cycling. I like the latter right now, but when I feel like I can put on a bathing suit, I love to swim! πŸ™‚

Also, yoga VS Pilates? Anyone speak the language?

  4. Running (I’m semi-training for my first 1/2 marathon) and yoga. I need to get back into weight lifting some, though, and I’m looking forward to more swimming when it gets too hot to run here in Tulsa.

  5. I like to keep my workout routine varied. I like kettlebell workouts, hiking, walking, kickboxing, plyometric workouts. Pretty much anything that gets my heart pumping and makes me work up a good sweat. Right now, I’m pregnant, so I’m sticking with a light strength training workout, prenatal yoga, and walking.

  6. I like to run outside when it’s nice and ride the stationary bike at home when it’s not. I’ve also been lifting weights with Chalean Extreme lately and that’s been making a big difference!

  7. I do boot camp classes to stay in shape. I only do it three times a week and I am in much better shape than I have ever been doing anything else.

  8. I used to play vball all the time and it just became my mode of exercise… But now since I’m not on a team anymore, and because its hard to find 11 other ppl to play with, into to the gym to get a good workout!

  9. You look so adorable in that shirt! I love it! And way to go on being smaller than pre-baby! So exciting! I love running and I love doing cross-fit. That is probably my favorite because it’s pure torture but it’s usually over fast! πŸ˜‰

  10. I love yoga and zumba, but I’ve found that I need to supplement those with running to really stay in shape

  11. I love hiking, and I can mix it up with both walking and running. Can’t beat the scenery either! Thanks for having this giveaway! The Albion fit looks awesome. I’ve always wanted a top with thumb holes since it’s chilly in the mornings around here.

  12. I love just about any and every exercise! Especially lifting heavy weights and HIIT workouts, they would have to be my all time fave!

Motivation . . . hmm tricky one . . . I stick with it because of how great I know I will feel when I’m done. And we all know happy mama = happy family right πŸ˜‰

ps you sweet Caroline are stunning!

    1. I’m with ya, Emma. I’m usually about up for anything. I just mainly stick to running. However, a few months ago I tried Pure Barre for the first time (do that have that in Australia?) and it was AWESOME. Love finding new ways to kick my bum. πŸ™‚

P.S. Thank you! You’re too kind.

  13. My husband and I walk our dogs twice a day and I love to do yoga when I get the chance. Nothing like exercise to make you feel better!

  14. You look good! It’s so hard to pick a favorite! I would love a top like yours or the optimum capris. My favorite thing to do is running or yoga.

  15. Wow, I had never even heard of this site before! I’m absolutely in love with your crew top. I can’t decide if I like it more in jade or rust!

  16. just daily walking i’m afraid. i wish i could do more but after years of being sick i’m thankful to still be able to walk the dogs a couple of miles every day.

  17. Hello! I haven’t posted on your blog yet, but I love it and I love your recipes. I LOVE exercising. I grew up dancing, so that is my favorite form (I take a hip hop class once a week) my new love of the past three years is running. I like long distance running but it tends to mess with my stress hormones (I, like you have PCOS, and I try to regulate it without medication). I swim once or twice a week as well as walking and dance aerobics. Exercise is my therapy, it keeps me sane, happy and confident. Its always there when other things aren’t cutting it. πŸ™‚

    1. Hey Kassidy! I’m so glad you’re here! Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. I’m always thrilled to hear that people like my recipes. πŸ™‚ Hooray! And good for you for sticking it to PCOS and telling those hormones who’s boss. πŸ˜‰ I love the thought of dancing as exercise. I guess I wasn’t ever exposed to it growing up, so I never think about it, but what an awesome way to get your exercise! Do you do zumba? I haven’t tried that, but I know a ton of people LOVE it! Anyway. I’m with ya. Exercise is my therapy too. Such a great stress reliever. πŸ™‚
