A little over two weeks ago, we moved to a new house. By new, I mean new to us, because this house is SO old, creaky and has an oven from the 1950’s (I may as well be baking in Disney’s 50’s Prime Time Cafe!). We also had to go without a washer/dryer for 2 weeks until yesterday when we got the hookups installed! I did my first load of laundry last night. It was a beautiful thing.
However, despite some of the inconveniences of this house, the location is KEY. We’re in probably the most walkable neighborhood I’ve ever seen (besides living in San Francisco or NYC). I’m 2 blocks away from grocery stores, pharmacies and parks…5 blocks away from restaurants! Needless to say, we’ve been doing a lot of walking. I sometimes feel French, walking to get fresh baked bread and wine for dinners.
With all of that said, things have been a little cray cray inside the house. Because we’re still getting the necessities fixed with the house, we had to stall on unpacking. We’re living out of boxes still and you don’t even want to see how many there are. Holy stress!
The only thing that’s keeping me remotely sane is the occasional recipe that I make for you guys! Getting in the kitchen and behind the camera are my two favorite things. HUGE stress relievers.
So, when I’m not directing contractors, unpacking boxes, feeding Liam, fixing dinner, cleaning the house, washing the BILLION dishes (no dishwasher…sad), or cleaning poopy diapers, I’m eating or sleeping. 😉 With Liam on the go-go-go, it’s hard to catch a break! I’m sure I’m burning calories out the wazoo because I’m constantly hungry (I guess I can blame that on nursing too). Snacking is the name of the game around here right now.
Speaking of snacking. Meet my new friend, Mr. Snack Delights:
This is shouting my name from the roof tops. I’ve gone through three containers in 2 weeks. How do you even do that?!?
It’s a good thing it’s strawberry season, because I think this is the BEST way to enjoy them…dipped in chocolate!
So, since I’m going to be snacking for many many many MANY weeks to come…I’m not even lying. There are SO many boxes to unpack!…I’ll be showing you my top ten favorite ways to enjoy this delightful treat!
I’m joining 9 other bloggers who are each doing the same thing: making it 100 days of delight! The PHILADELPHIA Snack Delights come in five different flavors:
- white chocolate*
- milk chocolate*
- dark chocolate*
- cinnamon
- caramel
*denotes my cup of tea
So, while I sit here and delight in my snack…one of many throughout the day, I’ll be doing 52 loads of laundry that we’ve accumulated from the past few weeks.
Pass the detergent and chocolate, please.
And here it is! Sounds yummy. I don’t think I would have the self-control to stop when I should. Lol. I don’t have lots and lots of boxes to unpack 😉
I feel your pain! My family just recently completed a renovation project that took 14 months – an old, un-updated farm house in Harwich, MA – at one point myself, my husband and two kids were all sleeping in one small room living out of bags while construction was in progress! We got through it and now have a beautiful home! Good luck to you and your project!
A new (even if old) house is so exciting! I hope you guys are settled in soon and can’t wait to see some pics of your new place! Congrats!
Good luck with the unpacking/settling in!
O girl I feel your pain too! My husband and I moved 2 months ago and we’re still living in a disaster zone! Fixing known issues seems to keep uncovering more hidden issues…I just can’t imagine doing this with kids/baby — good luck 🙂
That looks like the perfect snack! Im so sad for you for no dishwasher 🙁 But cant wait to see all you do with the new place! We live walking distance from a nice market by the ocean, and it’s so nice to go down there and get ONLY what you need and can carry rather than coming back with pantry fulls of stuff you wont use for a long time 😉 And it forces you to buy fresh too which is the best!!
Perhaps snack to me!
I’m sure you guys would find time to unwind from all the unpacking, this weekend at FBFOrl 🙂
Can’t wait to see pics of the new place!! I’m a Snack Delight’s blogger too!! Seriously love the stuff!
Oh yay! Those snack delights were so good, I’m already out. 🙂
First, congratulations on the new house (if it creates that much hectic mess, it’s certainly your right to call it new and yours!)
Second, I definitely didn’t know these existed! Are they frozen? I may have to see how they do melted…
I can’t wait to see your new old house! Even if it’s old, it’s still better than living in an apartment. 🙂
And those snack thingies look SO good.
