I’ve jumped on the fashion bandwagon to see if I can vamp up my style. As a stay-at-home mom in a family of one car, I don’t get out much. If I do go out, it’s a quick jog to the grocery store (Hello, running clothes!). And when I do get a chance to go to Target, I’m more concerned about the latest kitchen accessories than the newest sweater. I mean, do you seriously think that Liam can stay content while I tried on a butt-load of clothing? I don’t think so.
Solution: Stitch Fix!
Stitch Fix is an online service where you fill out a style profile, pay $20 to have a stylist pick out clothing or jewelry for you and send them to you. Once you receive them, try them on and you have three days to choose which ones you’ll keep and which ones you’ll return (package and shipping already included). If you keep any of them, that $20 styling fee goes towards your final purchase. Easy peasy!
This is actually my second Stitch Fix box. I incorrectly sized myself (in a good way) and everything was way too big. This go around was much better. Now, you’re going to help me decide what to keep, right?
A note before we begin: Please excuse my humidified hair. It was almost 100 degrees and I was running in and out of the house changing clothes and chasing mister Liam around the yard. Note to self: pick up dog poop.
1. Mak Jaclynn 3/4 Sleeve Teal Button-up Cardigan: I love the color and I’m a fan of layering, but I’m not sure I need another sweater in my closet. Thoughts?
2. Natural Life Diogo Short Sleeve Dolmon Pink Jersey Top: I think this makes me look skinny, although looking at the photo, it makes me think I’m hiding something. I’m not sure about the sleeves. Thoughts?
3. Sweet Rain Dalilah Sheer Floral Cluster Top: I’m torn. Half of me thinks I look like a granny in floral and don’t appreciate the immovability of this blouse, and half of me thinks I look pretty in a form fitting blouse. Thoughts?
4. Tea N Rose Calen Striped Hi-Lo Sheer Blue Back Tank: I can answer this one for you. This thing makes me look like I’ve gained 10 pounds and hello arms! The back is completely see through too…ew. Do you think different?
5. 41Hawthorne Rectangle & Gem Gold and Teal Necklace: I’m usually not a big necklace wearer, but this one really dresses plain clothing up. I’m just not sure how I feel about paying $38 for a necklace. Thoughts?
Sooooo…
The results are in and this is what you guys thought:
Verdict: If I was made of money, I would have kept the Teal Cardigan, Floral Blouse and Teal Necklace. In the end, I decided that I had enough cardigans (and I found the exact same one for $10 cheaper with shipping online) and couldn’t justify spending $58 on the Floral Blouse. The blouse definitely grew on me and I would have loved to have kept it, but just couldn’t fork out the dough. I ended up keeping the teal necklace. It really does go with almost everything I own, so don’t be surprised if you see me wearing it a lot. Thank you for all of your help! Until next time!
If you’ve been over to my store, you’ll notice my Fashion (or lack there of) collection where hopefully will be spruced up after I’m fixed with my Stitch Fix!
And if you were wondering, I chose to have shipped the cheapest clothing they could find…because, well, I’m cheap. Here are the prices (which are high for me, but doable with the $20 styling fee going towards my purchase):
1. $38
2. $48
3. $58
4. $38
5. $38
One last thing I haven’t mentioned, you get a 25% discount if you purchase everything in your box. Okay. That’s all. Thanks for your help!
This is not a sponsored post. I purchased the Stitch Fix box by myself. This post does contain referral links for new sign-ups that gives me a small credit towards my next box because you want to make me more fashion forward, right?
You are way too hard on yourself (aren’t we all?)! I actually think #3 is adorable, not granny like at all!!
I have to say the floral blouse. It looks granny in the box but extremely youthful and classy on you. I’m still debating on stitch fix. I’ve never paid more than probably 25 or 30 on a top, i shoot for 5 – 10. I’m so cheap!
I think they nailed your style. My favorite item is the necklace. The new “thing” among college girls these days is a solid black or cream dress with a mint green necklace accent. Nice for date night! It’s a shame they’re all so expensive!
I definitely do love that necklace but I also understand the hesitation with paying that much. I would though I think 😉 cardigan is a must I think. I like the other stuff too but those two are my faves 🙂
I think the floral blouse is AMAZING!
i love 1,2,3, and 5 for you! isn’t stitchfix fun? i just got that same cardigan in a blue – so pretty.
i agree about the necklace, but I just kept one from my last box (that was about the same price) and i’ve worn it so much that it’s already worth what I spent. i’m normally a cheap jewelry girl, but i love mine!
They all look lovely, but I voted for the cardigan. I know you said you have a lot of sweaters, but honestly, it’s a pretty color, it looks great on you, and it’s a versatile piece. Also, only $38! The necklace would have been my second choice, but for $38? No way, you could get a real piece of silver jewelry for that, rather than a piece costume jewelry. I wasn’t feeling the striped tank. I liked the floral top, but don’t think I could justify telling you to spend that much money on that shirt. I also thought the Pink Jersey top was cute, kind of boring though, and I personally couldn’t justify telling you to keep it for that much money! Hope this helps 🙂
Thanks for sharing the pricing. I have been wanting to try Stitchfix but I was concerned that their lowest price point was still too much for my budget (it is). The pink shirt and floral shirt look great on you! I am not a blouse person because I want the fabric to move so I totally understand your hesitation there!
What fun! I love the pink shirt on you, especially with the necklace!
I like 1, 3, and 5 but you’d look adorable in anything!
Another vote for the floral blouse – I think it looks amazing on you!
I really liked 1, 2, & 3 on you ~ super cute and flattering!
