Homemade Hot Cocoa for Two

Ever since I was little, we’d read The Polar Express at Christmas time. When the movie came out 9 years ago, my family started watching it every year. It’s now a family Christmas classic and I couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce baby Liam to it, too!

Since Liam is 18 months this year for Christmas, I figured it’d be worth a try to see if he’d be interested in watching The Polar Express. To my surprise, he sat through the entire thing!

Shocked, I tell you!

This was only the second movie he’s ever watched in (almost) its entirety. The first movie being Cars…go figure.

Now, that we’re in complete Christmas gear…

How in the world is Christmas already here?!?

…The Polar Express, The Grinch and Elf are played repeatedly in our house. Thank goodness for Netflix, The Polar Express is on instant streaming!

To accompany The Polar Express, it was only fitting to finally make homemade hot cocoa instead of from a powder. It is SO easy! The temperature straight from the stove is body warming and sets the Christmas mood instantly.

You can make it less sweet, more sweet, less chocolaty, more chocolaty…just alter the ingredients in the slightest and you’ll have the perfect homemade cup of cocoa.

Also, if want or NEED to double or triple the recipe, go right ahead and it’ll still be a brilliant cup of cocoa.

  1. I love these pictures! 🙂 They inspired me to get up to make some hot chocolate. But I’m going to be lazy and make the Swiss Miss that someone gave me (we don’t have that here so it’s like, “WOOOOW! SWISS MISS!” although that’s something I wouldn’t care for if I were actually in the US right now. ;))
