Soon to be a Big Brother

Yep, you heard it right! Liam will be a big brother next year. I’m due on February 5th and will soon be doing weekly pregnancy updates like I did with my pregnancy with Liam.

Unlike my last pregnancy, I didn’t face 2 years of infertility. It seems as though my body has re-adjusted itself after delivering Liam and I got pregnant on the first try. If that’s not a miracle, I don’t know what is.

We’re so grateful and so excited for baby #2!

I’ve been feeling the full effects of the 1st trimester again this pregnancy: 24/7 nausea and fatigue. Luckily, I’m handling it a little better than my last pregnancy since I knew what to expect and I’m eating almost every hour. A lot of carbs and fruits for me!

I am thankful to know that the morning sickness will pass. During my last pregnancy, I didn’t believe anyone. If it all goes down like my last pregnancy, I have 7 more weeks of nausea. God, help me.

Let’s talk Due Date Cookies (or calendar sugar cookies)!

Healthier Sugar Cookies – I modified the recipe using all white whole wheat flour (2.5 cups) and using coconut sugar in place of the granulated sugar. Every little bit helps!

Royal Icing – Β from Sweetopia – To make the teal hearts/circles, I piped them onto parchment paper and let them dry. Once dry, I placed them on the wet black icing. Tada!

  4. Congrats to you!! I found out I’m also expecting and am due on Feb 21st, so
I’m right behind you :). Does eating every hour really help with the nausea? It’s my first pregnant and I’m terribly nauseous so I’m trying to figure it all out. Good luck and congratulations again πŸ™‚

    1. Congratulations! πŸ˜€ I’m sorry to hear about your nausea. It sucks, right? I’m right along with you. We’ll be morning sick (all day!) together. πŸ™‚ The trick for me is to not get too full or too empty. I’m usually feeling nauseous every hour and I will nibble on something small (100-200 calories) of whatever I feel will make my tummy happy. Right now that’s a whole lot of egg biscuits, fruit, quesadillas, cereal, etc. My OB told me that lean protein is something that will take the ease off the nausea better than anything and it’ll last longer in your belly (i.e. chicken, fish, low fat cheese, yogurt, milk, etc.). So far, so good. Good luck with everything and let me know if you need any more suggestions!

  5. Woohoo!! Congratulations, Caroline! Oh I feel you on the nausea…there’s nothing worse! I’m almost 40 weeks and huge, but I’ll take this stage over the beginning part anytime! Hope it’s over for you soon. Xoxo

    1. I’m with ya! Give me big belly any day. πŸ˜‰ I’m so excited for you too! Any day now, eh? Eee!

  7. Congratulations! So excited for you! Hopefully your nausea will subside more quickly this pregnancy than last. Liam’s going to love watching your belly grow πŸ™‚

  8. I just found your site, and am glad I did, since you have such exciting news!
My niece had terrible morning sickness and could not afford to lose weight (she’s a size 1) with her pregnancies. I suggested if she could do it, some ginger candies. She was so grateful, as she was able to eat and hold things down for the first time in 4 months. I am so thankful to have stumbled upon the answer for her. Maybe ginger will work for you, too. It helps with any nausea, including motion sickness. You can use any form of ginger that works for you, and I do hope you will try this and pass it on if it does work!

I passed it around on an airplane flight where there was much turbulence, and it saved everyone from their serious discomfort. I was a passenger, too, and just needed relief, didn’t want other people having so much stuff to deal with. It was like a prayer answered.

Thank you so much for all you are doing, and all that you are.

  9. Congratulations Caroline!!! Yay for you and your growing family! It seems like just yesterday you were pregnant w/ Liam and he is getting so big & has the most beautiful blue eyes! Hope you feel better soon.

  10. Congrats! I came across your blog because of the cookies on Pinterest. So darn cute!!!! It really stuck out because that’s my due date too!!! How ironic!?! Would u mind me using the pic of them in my announcement to friends/family??

    1. Hi Sarah, Congratulations to you, too! It’s fine if you use the photo for your personal use. I appreciate you asking first. πŸ˜€ I hope your pregnancy is going well so far!
