Liam waited very patiently to be in a photo with his “favorite sister”.
- Date: April 17th, 20117
- Height: 23.25 inches
- Weight: 10 lbs 13 oz
- Sleeping Pattern: We’re starting to get used to Blaire’s sleep patterns and get her into a routine. We try to follow the sleep, eat, wake, repeat routine. She’ll sleep for longer stretches during the morning hours and short cat naps in the afternoon. Right now I’m trying to get her used to falling asleep drowsy in her crib instead of being worn or sleeping in the swing. Half the time, it doesn’t work and she gets herself overtired and needs the help of nursing, the swing or being worn. I can’t complain, though, she does really well at night!
- Eating Habits: Exclusively breastmilk, every 2-3 hours all day and at night she’ll go 4-6 hours. She’s still a sleepy eater and doesn’t spend more than 5-10 minutes on each breast. She tried her first bottle this month and she hated it. She gagged on the nipple and spit it out just like she does the pacifier. Silly girl.
- Development: She’s definitely more alert these days! She smiles at us when she wakes from sleep and is mesmerized by her brothers.
- Mischief: She still will hardly take a pacifier, hasn’t quite found her fingers yet and hates the carseat. We’re considering moving her to a convertible carseat to see if that will help!
- Cuteness: We’re so in love with her. When I sit down on the couch with Blaire, both Hayden and Liam instantly flock to us and just kiss and rub her head. Hayden even gives her an, ‘awww’. So cute!
- Talking: She’s started to coo a little which is just darling!
- Favorites: She loves being held facing outward so she can see everything that is going on. She also has grown to love the swing! Her brothers are another BIG time favorite. She will stare at them for hours!
- Firsts: She smiled for the first time on March 28th, 5.5 weeks old!
- Concerns: This month, I developed mastitis (she got a couple of days of diarrhea from my antibiotics) and one week later, I got shingles! We’re anxiously waiting to see if she caught chicken pox from my shingles that were on my breast. We should know in a couple of weeks. Other than that, we’re still massaging her tear ducts since they are still plugged in her left eye. She just had her first vaccines and she did amazing!
- A Day in the Life: Lately, she goes to bed around 10pm after being nursed to sleep (nothing else works!). She’ll then wake up 1-2 times during the night for a feeding. Her longest stretch thus far has been 6.5 hours!!! When she sleeps more than 4 hours during the first half of the night, she thinks it’s time to get up for the day and stays awake for 1-2 hours before she takes her next long nap. Usually she goes back to sleep around 6am and sleeps until I wake her at 8:15am to feed her before we have to run Liam to school at 8:45am. Then, she screams in the car until we get home around 9:20am, where she takes her first nap. She’ll sleep for 30-60 minutes. I’ll feed her again and then she’ll sleep again until I wake her to feed her at 12pm before we leave at 12:20pm to pick Liam up. She screams in the car until we get home at 1pm and then goes down for another nap. This is where her sleep gets a little sporadic, but I try my best to let her get as long of a stretch as possible because by this point she seems to be getting overtired. She’ll eat and be awake for about 1 hour before she goes back down for naps. By 6pm, she won’t sleep any more, no matter how hard I try. She’ll only sleep while being nursed at this point until she finally passes out for the night around 10pm.
omigosh she is seriously the cutest little doll baby!!!
